Drew Kelly

It only takes a little light to draw a person to the cross, light that will cause a big change in a life. This proved true for JVBC newcomer and electrician Drew Kelly. As co-owner of Honey Dew Electric, Drew received an SOS call from Alan Adkins, business administrator at JVBC. Alan had been driving down Highway 290 one evening and noticed the light on the landmark cross was dim. Drew used his gifts and abilities to restore light back to the cross, and in the process, found that God was creating light and purpose that had been missing in his own life.

Drew and long-time business associate and drinking buddy Keith Sisson were electricians who had met while working various jobs together in the early 2000s. Keith had seen Drew go through some difficult trials in life, including marital separation, divorce and near loss of custody of his five-year-old daughter, Hailey. One contract job after another seemed to be leading nowhere, and in the process of trying to find his life Drew fell away from God.

Drew found his footing when he decided to give God the pain of his break up and disappointments in life. He had been attending another church when his parents, members of JVBC, encouraged their son to visit and try out the new preacher, Andrew Werley.

About the same time, with frustrations mounting and no clear direction for his work life, Drew felt strongly that God was leading him to start his own business. He talked his plan over with Sisson and a partnership was born. One of the first major decisions the pair made was, above all, to honor the Lord with the company. They made flyers and drummed up a few residential jobs, but the money was just trickling in. That’s when the call came from Alan about lighting up the cross.

The partners decided to donate their time to put light back on the cross. “God blessed our company after that,” said Drew. “We landed a major commercial job.” Keith and his wife Roberta began attending JVBC and Keith felt led to join after seeing how God was changing Drew.

Other blessings are coming Drew’s way as a result of seeking God’s will in his life. He met his soulmate in his connection group class at JVBC. “God used my marriage and divorce to teach and prepare me to be in a godly relationship, “ he said. “We’re reading our Bible together every day, be it on the phone or in person, and we're praying together. We want to honor the Lord in our relationship.”
