The Women's Ministry at JVBC desires to help women grow in faith while showing love to our church members and city.

To fulfill our mission the women's ministry at JVBC provides opportunities for women to get to know other women, interactive Bible studies, and opportunities to become aware of needs in our city. Below are some of the ongoing events we provide to fulfill our mission.

We have women's Bible studies meeting during the school year, one on Tuesday mornings and three groups on Wednesday evenings. Topics are customized for each session and use Scripture and discussion to allow the Holy Spirit to change lives. To learn more about the schedule and focus of the current studies, please contact Associate Pastor Leonard Prater.

"You'll Get Through This" by Max Lucado. This study starts Tuesday, February 21 at 9:15 AM and Wednesday, February 22 at 6:15 PM in room E-6 (Chapel). Cost of the study book is $10.

You fear you won't make it through. We all do. We fear that the depression will never lift, the yelling will never stop, the pain will never leave. In the pits, surrounded by steep walls and aching reminders, we wonder: Will this gray sky ever brighten? This load ever lighten?

In this six-session Bible study, pastor and New York Times best-selling author, Max Lucado offers refreshing assurance. Max reminds participants God doesn't promise that getting through trials will be quick or painless. It wasn't for Joseph tossed in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, wrongfully imprisoned, forgotten and dismissed. But his Old Testament story is in the Bible for this reason: to teach us to trust God to trump evil.

Childcare is available for birth through PK during the regular Wednesday night activities.

Ladies Bible Study #2: "All Things New" by Kelly Minter

Starts Wednesday, February 22 at 6:15 PM in Room E-1 (Chapel)

The city of ancient Corinth was much like our own modern-day cities: a melting pot of electrifying cultural experiences to be had, along with the myriad pitfalls of spiritual depravity. Still, Paul wrote to the church of God in Corinth. Meaning God’s church is meant to thrive in any city and every circumstance in which we find ourselves. Paul’s letter is as timely as ever.
Over 8 sessions, Kelly Minter will lead you through the Letter of 2 Corinthians, exploring the anchoring truths of bearing treasures in jars of clay, meeting Christ through a pressing thorn, opening wide your heart in the midst of hurtful relationships, and what it means to embrace the lost and lonely as ministers of the new covenant. Each of us has a message to proclaim and live by: Because of Jesus the old has gone, the new has come.

Cost: $15 for the Bible study book. Pay for your book online, at the women’s ministry table or the first night of class.

For more information, contact Kristen Blanford: or 832.491.5197.

Childcare is available for birth through Pre-K during the regular Wednesday night church activities.

Are you a woman looking for a place to grow in your faith and find friends? We are a group of ladies of various ages (20s-60s), backgrounds, and life stories. Two things bind us (other than being women): our love for Jesus Christ and His love for us. Our class studies the Bible in a variety of ways, including book studies, thematic and topical studies. We are intentional about forming community by getting together often. Come and be part of our Bible Study group. For more information, please contact Sally Ramsay

The Joy Class is a group of ladies 50 and older who enjoy fellowship and Bible Study. We teach from literature that is aimed for seniors and have an active group of 15-25 each Sunday. Many days, you will find us eating out together, attending concerts, and having parties. We also take great joy in taking on service projects as a class. For more information about this group, please contact Ann Ross.
