Living
Beyond
Yourself

Living Beyond Yourself: Exploring the Fruit of The Spirit by Beth Moore is an in-depth women's Bible study of the fruit of the Holy Spirit as presented in the book of Galatians. Beth walks through each trait listed in the fruit and encourages women to know the freedom of a Spirit-filled life. Through this study participants will look at the supernatural aspects of the fruit and that you cannot grow, learn, or produce the fruit on your own. Beth challenges you to develop the fruit by maintaining an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God. A Spirit-filled life truly results in living beyond yourself.

MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)

Are you overwhelmed by the whirlwind of motherhood and looking for a place to find friendships, community and seasoned advice and support for you as a woman and mother? You can find all that and more at MOPS!

What is MOPS?

MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom — urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms — moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. For over 35 years, MOPS has been creating authentic communities where moms gather together to experience encouragement, hope, support and spiritual growth — all to help them impact their families, communities and world.

What happens at a JVBC MOPS meeting?

At each MOPS meeting, the morning starts with a delicious, warm breakfast followed by a period of fellowship among the mothers. Afterwards there is  prayer, devotional or testimonial, and a guest speaker or craft. At the end of each meeting, the mothers break into small groups for a chance to have more personal discussions.

While you are enjoying a morning with other adults, your children ages infant (3 months+) through Kindergarten are cared for in our MOPPETS program. MOPPETS are divided into age appropriate groups where they participate in a planned curriculum under the guidance of wonderful, loving teachers. The MOPPETS program allows your children to interact socially with other children while participating in games, stories, crafts, music, and physical play. Infants younger than 3 months can stay with you at the meeting.

When and Where does Jersey Village Baptist MOPS meet?

MOPS meets the first and third Friday of each month from 9:30-11:30 am at Jersey Village Baptist Church. Mothers meet upstairs in Building F. MOPPETS are cared for in the church nursery located downstairs in Building F. Please contact Caitlin Wilson at Caitlin.j.wilson@gmail.com to get a copy of the current calendar to see our meeting dates. Click here to download a map of the church campus.

Is Jersey Village Baptist MOPS right for me?

If you are pregnant or are the mother of a child aged newborn through Kindergarten, enjoy making new friends and participating in adult conversations, want to share the joys and challenges of motherhood with others, like to occasionally get out of the house and eat a delicious breakfast, and you would love to do all of these things while your children are under the care of responsible adults, then Jersey Village Baptist MOPS is right for you!

Here is what some current and past members had to say about MOPS:

·       "MOPS is my community FAMILY!!! I had recently quit my job and was without SUPPORT for my new career as a mom. I knew all the best restaurants and things to do as a couple but I was at a loss for where to find resources and activities needed for my family and I. MOPS provided me a group of SISTERS in motherhood with FRIENDSHIP and KINDNESS!"

·       “MOPS has been a great way of meeting women who are dealing with the same challenges that I am as a mother and wife. We share similar experiences and it has placed me with women that I can relate to with what I am going through. I have made many lifelong friends throughout the group."

How do I Register for Jersey Village Baptist MOPS?

Our MOPS calendar follows the academic calendar, running from September through May each year. To register, complete the registration located here.

Annual Jersey Village Baptist MOPS dues are $100, which includes national and local membership dues. Dues are requested upon registration. You are also able to break the payments up by semester, $60.00 payable at time of fall registration and $60.00 payable by January 15, 2014. $25.00 of the registration fee is non-refundable. Alternative payment plans are available for those members in need. The registration fee includes childcare within the MOPPETS program. Please contact Caitlin Wilson at Caitlin.j.wilson@gmail.com if you require financial assistance. MOPS has a mission of "No Mom Alone" and we take this seriously. We will not refuse a mom in need of our support because of financial reasons.

Registration for MOPS is open year-round, provided that we have available childcare space for your child(ren). If you are interested in joining MOPS mid-year, please contact Caitlin Wilson at Caitlin.j.wilson@gmail.com to find out if space is available for your MOPPET(S). If you do not need childcare, you are welcome to join immediately! MOPS dues will be prorated accordingly for members joining mid-year.

If you have any additional questions, you may email Caitlin Wilson at Caitlin.j.wilson@gmail.com.

Biblical
Counseling

Jersey Village Biblical Counseling Ministry

Jersey Village Baptist Church Counseling ministry is designed for members and attenders of JVBC as well as to other members of the community, and is offered for free. Our society is experiencing family breakdowns and personal problems in epidemic proportions as biblical values are being undermined and have come under attack. Many are in need of counsel, discipleship and mentoring in specialized ways. With this realization and for this reason, JVBC Counseling Ministry exists to both courageously and compassionately "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15) and to assist in tangibly, practically and biblically addressing "issues" that keep people from experiencing wholeness and peace in life. No matter what issues the individual, married couple or family face, counselors at JVBC stand ready to assess those needs, provide biblical encouragement and instruction, apply love, grace and mercy, and help to implement the remedies God offers through His Word. The prescription is to teach those who come for counseling to apply biblical truth to virtually every inorganic (non-physical) problem they face. Counseling is available for adolescents (7-18 years old, with permission of and accompanied by parent(s)/guardian), single and married adults. Younger children's needs will be discussed and addressed by counselors with a specialization in early childhood. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult during counseling appointments.

Who are the counselors?

All counselors have received formal training in biblical counseling from Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC), a national organization committed to the quality of biblical counseling offered by its members. They are also certified by ACBC as biblical counselors. They continue to avail themselves of ongoing training in the realm of biblical counseling.

How do I make an appointment?
