More

We continue to support Living Water through the Easter season. It's an organization that brings life and health to communities whose water supply is severely restricted. Please add one more percent to your current giving this month in support of Living Water.

When one more percent is given above your regular tithe or offering, one more person can hear the gospel or can own their own Bible or can have clean water to drink. The culture, heart and mission focus of our church is to put hands and feet to the gospel as we seek to make Jesus love practical in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.

Our God is a generous God. John 3:16 reads that God loved the world so much that He ‘gave’ us His Son, and whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. If you’re a Christian today it’s because God was generous. The One More initiative is designed to inspire this godly trait while fostering a culture of generosity at Jersey Village Baptist Church.

Don’t miss out on what God has planned for you.  Join the One More initiative simply by giving One More percent of your income. Whether you are not currently giving at all, or you are a faithful tither, through your commitment to give One More percent to the General Fund of JVBC, the effects that we can achieve collectively, as a unified church body, can change our community, our country, and even the world for eternity.  So, as you commit to give One More percent please know that JVBC is committed to continue to be generous with your gifts by funding One More projects like the one you see celebrated here today.

Women’s Bible Study

Wonderstruck

Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God by Margaret Feinberg is a seven-session Bible study that will remind you what it means to awaken to wonder—every day. Do you ever feel like you're going through the motions of faith? Sometimes we do and say the right things, but our hearts are far from God. We lose our sense of holy awe. In Wonderstruck, Margaret Feinberg invites you to toss back the covers, climb out of bed, and drink in the fullness of life God intended.

You will learn how to:

·         Develop a renewed passion for God

·         Identify what's holding you back in prayer

·         Find extraordinary moments on ordinary days

·         Discover peace in knowing you're wildly loved

·         Recognize the presence of God in the midst of your routine

Begins:

Tuesday, March 25: 9:15 AM – Room A-16

Wednesday, March 26: 6:15 PM – Room A-16

Adoption
Ministry

Learn more about the new partnership of Generations Adoptions and the JVBC Adoption Ministry!

THE ADOPTION MINISTRY AT JERSEY VILLAGE BAPTIST CHURCH

Jersey Village Baptist Church and Generations Adoptions, headquartered in Waco, Texas, have forged an alliance to create an adoption ministry at JVBC that will provide spiritual and practical support, education and resources for:

  • Birth mothers and fathers
  • Couples wishing to adopt
  • Adoptive parents
  • Adoption ministry volunteers

To assist our church in this endeavor of offering help, hope, purpose and redemption through Jesus Christ to individuals and families, an innovative partnership is being formed with Generations Adoptions unlike any other of which we are aware. Elizabeth Golic, Regional Manager for Generations Adoptions in the Houston area, has joined hands with JVBC to focus her energies as a case manager, trainer, and ministry team builder, along with a host of other efforts to ensure that the adoption ministry at JVBC achieves its intended mission. We invite anyone who has a heart for adoption or fostering children to become part of the adoption ministry at JVBC. The groundwork for this ministry is being laid now, and those who are led to join us will help to shape the future of adoption services at Jersey Village Baptist Church.

Elizabeth joined Generations Adoptions to serve as its staff liaison to Jersey Village Baptist Church where she serves birth mothers, adoptive families, and offers adoption ministry support and education.

Elizabeth has a Bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute and a Master’s degree in Human Services: Marriage and Family Counseling through Liberty University. Elizabeth served as a coach at Care Net Pregnancy Center in Arlington, TX, a case manager for Sparrow’s Home Adoptions, and she volunteered for ten years with Hope For Orphans.

Hope for Orphans, now a Family Life ministry, was founded by her parents Paul & Robin Pennington in 2001. It was through this ministry that Elizabeth served in orphanages around the
world, speaking on the topic of special needs adoption in the US and Korea. She has assisted families in crisis through adoption counseling and has been a co-leader for adoption
related support groups. Growing up in a family with five adopted siblings and welcoming three of her seven children through adoption, adoption is very dear to her heart.

Volunteers
The Jersey Village Baptist Church Adoption Ministry is accepting applications for volunteer positions. If you are interested in working with prospective adoptive families, birth mothers or with the overall vision and strategies of the ministry, please look at the job descriptions below. An application is also available for you to download, fill out and return to the church office. Please contact Elizabeth Golic if you are interested in volunteering for any of these positions.

Biblical
Counseling

Affective Biblical Counseling

What is Affective Biblical Counseling? Affective Biblical Counseling is a ministry of Jersey Village Baptist Church designed and offered, affordably, to both members and attenders of JVBC as well as to other members of the community. In the society we find ourselves, with family breakdowns and personal problems in epidemic proportions and biblical values being undermined and under attack, many are in need of counsel, discipleship and mentoring in specialized ways. With this realization and for this reason, Affective Biblical Counseling exists to both courageously and compassionately "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15) and assist you in tangibly, practically and biblically rising and remaining above whatever "issues" you may be wrestling with. No matter what the individual, married couple or family need, the counselors of Affective Biblical Counseling at JVBC stand ready to provide biblical and specialized instruction in helping you recognize, apply and implement the love, grace, mercy and remedies God offers through His Word. You'll be shown and assisted in applying biblical truth to virtually any and every inorganic (non-physical) "issue" with which you find yourself, marriage and/or family confronted. This counseling is available for both adolescents (14 - 18 years old, with permission of and accompanied by parent(s)/guardian), single or married adults. Younger children's needs will be discussed and addressed separately.

Who are the counselors?

Steve and Judy Cranston are a couple with significant experience and a calling to counseling ministry. They have received formal training in biblical counseling from The National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC), a national organization committed to the quality of biblical counseling offered by its members. They are also certified by both NANC and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as biblical counselors. They continue to avail themselves of ongoing training in the realm of biblical counseling. Steve holds a license and has been ordained as a minister, having served as a pastor in several churches in both NY state and TX. He has a BA in Biblical Studies from Luther Rice Seminary and an MA in Biblical Studies from Baptist Bible College (PA). Judy is retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as National Account Manager, Short Line Marketing. Steve and Judy have five children, four of whom are married. They have seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

How do I make an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, please call for an appointment at 281.955.1872 or email either Steve (scranston@jvbc.org) or Judy (jcranston@jvbc.org). Pastoral Counseling is also available from any member of the pastoral staff and can be arranged by calling the church office at 713.466.6102.
